Title: Looking for a marriage record between Chilla and Rotther/Rother
Post by: heilanlassie on Sunday 17 November 24 10:27 GMT (UK)
I have recently subscribed to MyHeritage after being advised that it was more likely that I would find out about my Eastern European background.

One of my dna matches comes back as 1st cousin's daughter - which would be a very close relationship, if correct, but I am not getting any response from the person who has built her tree.

I am wondering, and hoping that someone on this site would be able to find a marriage record for this lady's grandmother, who I suspect might be one of my father's sisters.

On my tree, I have a sibling to my father named Franciska, born on 25 September 1890 in Kl. Underberg to Franz Chylla (this name is often spelled Chyla or Chilla) and Julianna Manikowska.

On the lady's tree, she has listed her grandmother, Franciska Maria, as born on 25 September 1888, and was married to a Hermann Rotther/Rother She also states that Franciska and Hermann went on to have a daughter, Elizabeth Johanna (married name Kawlowski) 1917-1997.

Could this lady's Franciska and my Franciska be the same person?

I am hoping that a marriage record between Franciska and Hermann might name Franciska's parents as Franz Chylla and Julianna Manikowska.

Please, please, please,can anyone help?

*** An update *** I might have found a marriage between a Hermann Rother and a Franciska Chyla in Nowe, 1908.
How could I find the actual marriage record, and would it show the names of the parents?

It would help a lot if you included the country you are asking about in the title.
Eastern Europe covers a wide area!

If you are referring to Poland - there was no standardised recording of BMD until after WWII. The link below tells you where to request BMD info. If you're looking for a marriage, you're probably looking at approaching the relevant Parish Church.

This must be the site where the marriage record came from.

This is the marriage record taken from my Ancestry tree. A very kind lady, in Poland, found it for me, and sent it by email.
