Does anyone have any information of the Drummond family from Portmoak
Parents- James & Mary (nee Whytt) Children Christian b-1884, David b-1886 & James b- 1888
-
Have you checked the Surname Interests Board - scroll to bottom of page & link is under YOUR TOOLS
-
Unfortunately no matching names on the surname interest list apart from mine
-
Exactly what kind of info are you looking for?
You presumably already have BMD info from Scotlands People
Can’t see an 1891 or 1901 entry
-
No birth in Kinross for a Christian Drummond. Male or female??
1888 birth for a David Watt Drummond mmn Watt (??Whyte) Also an 1877 entry so may be a previous child who died
When & where was the Drummond/Whyte marriage? One to a Mary White in 1871 but nothing else in the timframe

I have a James Drummond married Mary Whytt (Whyte) in 1782 with 3 children Christian, David and James. It is the James b- 1788 i’m really interested in as I have a James Drummond b- Scotland 1788 who Married Mary Husband in Whitby 1809 (1811) but I’ve never been able to link James for definite before his marriage. I have all information after his marriage

See your opening post - you have given birthyears in the 1880’s not 1780’s hence my not being able to find anything🙄🙄

So sorry Carole David 1782, Christian 1784, James 1788 according to F/S father James, mother Whytt
-
From SP but she would have been around 43 if b 1782
CHRISTIAN DRUMMOND/ JOSEPH DOO/ 18/11/1825 464 20 / 64 Portmoak
-
David 1782, Christian 1784, James 1788 according to F/S father James, mother Whytt
The originals are on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and may contain information not included in the index listing at F/S.
See screenshot - and note that there are in fact five children, not three.

Hi Forfarian the mother Whytt on SP & FS is the family I’ve been looking at but can’t get any other info on the son James and on the James I’m looking for he married Mary Husband in Whitby and on census in Sunderland just says from Scotland
-
I think you'll find that all five are the same family, despite the variant spelling of White/Whyte/Whytt.
Have you viewed the originals of these five baptisms on the Scotland's People web site? As I said, they may contain more information that is in the index there and on FS.
The sort of extra information that you sometimes get with a baptism is the father's occupation, where they lived, and names and even residences of witnesses to the baptisms, which may provide useful clues to the parents' family relationships.
I see that you said that they were married in 1782. There is no listing of a marriage on either SP or FS, so where did that come from?

Hi I got this information from another tree when I was a member of ”A” but I know some tree info is not always true.
The only difference from the births with mothers Whyte and Whytt is the place of birth but they could have moved from Orwell to Portmoak and the registra could have written a different spelling of mother’s surname. I found no further info on the births or christenings
Thanks for your input.

It does look as if someone might have been guessing based on the Portmoak baptisms.

Exactly. It would be too much of a coincidence to have two couples with the same names in parishes next door to one another having families consecutively.
I found no further info on the births or christenings.
That's a pity.
