I am looking for Janet/ Jessie Robertson born 1 Mar 1901 in Forres. Her mother registered her as Janet Anderson Sinclair. She also claimed to be married to a James Sinclair in 1893 in Auldearn. All lies. She was found out and by the order of the Sheriff the birth certificate was altered to Janet Robertson an illegitimate child. The father's name and the marriage were removed. I found Janet/Jessie in 1911 with her Uncle William and his wife Jessie in Buckie. She was still there in 1921 though this time she was being called William's daughter. I cannot find out what happened to her after 1921. She did not return to her mother who by 1915 was in Nairn and remained there till her death in 1949 There are lots of Janet/Jessie Robertsons in Scotlands People index but I cannot afford to buy all the certs on the off chance one of them is the right one. Can anyone help?

You don't say whether William was also surname Robertson? If not - she may have married under his surname
I can only see one possible marriage between 1921-1931
JANET ROBERTSON MALCOLM MACFARLANE
1923 135 / 120 Elgin
Possible death although she would only be 70 in 1971
1971 JANET MACFARLANE aged 71 135 / 369 Elgin

the birth certificate was altered to Janet Robertson
SP shows it as Janet Anderson Robertson

I had a few credits to spare so I looked at the Death Certificate for Janet - 135/369.
Unfortunately this is not the Janet that Seoni is looking for.
This Janet's date of birth is 16th February 1900 and parents are given as Benjamin Robertson and Mary Robertson m.s.Milne.
Back to the drawing board,
Dorrie

That was generous Dorrie, we have to explore even if only to rule out.
