Morning folks, nice bright morning with a hint of sunshine, long may it stay, I might get my washing out, that pleases me, I must be easily pleased.
Wishing everyone a better week

It's good to see some sunshine this week
I hope things will get better for those who had bad week last week
I'm planning a December holiday on a tight budget .. realised I'd forgotten about insurance . !
-
Oooh, you must have insurance, when I was a travel agent I almost begged a young lad to take out insurance, he didn't, my boss patted me on the back, I tried so hard, the lad obviously wanted just a one way ticket as he was going to find work, it was cheaper to buy a return ticket he didn't use it, when my grandaughter did 6 months touring I insisted she had the best insurance and I paid for it, grandson doing the same next year and I will do the same.
Take care.

Travel insurance should be taken out at the same time as you book your holiday. Problems can arise between booking and departure, not just while you are away. How often do we hear of people getting caught like that. It is better to be safe than sorry.
The week is getting of to a good start for me, the sun is shining and my son is here for a few days. I just hope it continues like this. I have had enough problems recently.
I hope KG is getting on alright and things are improving for the others that had a difficult time.
-
Jebber, enjoy your time with your son.

Thank you LM, it’s lovely having him to myself for a while.

A pleasant sunny day. This morning I was scouring the charity shops for Christmas cards, but returned empty handed, as I was so disappointed with the design of the cards. They just looked cheap and nasty, so maybe I'll just send donations straight to the charity. I think they are not selling so well this year, perhaps because of the postage costs, which often outweigh the cast of the card. There are "3 for 2" packs type reductions to be found.
My husband found a brand new Zara winter coat which was reduced to half price because one part of a press stud was missing. Apparently firms often send such "defective" items to charity shops, so look out for bargains! The missing press stud half was in a place where it wasn't really necessary and my husband was very pleased to find such a good quality coat at a reasonable price. I am a great fan of "recycled" goods in charity shops. it's amazing what you can find.
-
I always buy my cards from charity shops in January, they still make money, yes, I think people are cutting down this year, wouldn't it be nice for a Christmas stamp reduction for Christmas with special Christmas stamps.
I bought a Betty Barclay nice top in a charity shop and I have, in the past, bought nice jackets but I am very picky about what I buy.

Well done KG, nice to hear it.

That is good news JG. Be sure to take things easy and try and stay upright, I know that’s not easy. ;D

Just remains to be seen how I cope with the 9 concrete steps up to the front door! :-\
-
That's welcome news KG. Bet you feel uplifted, but please don't overdo things too soon. (which I know will be difficult)
-
That is a problem, but take it very slow and pause on each one, I hope you have hand rails, if not see if it’s possible to have them installed. Good luck.
-
Great to hear you’re returning home KG… as others have said take care and rest!
Oh what joy to see blue skies this morning… washing out and dry for the first time in what seems like an eternity… Hope it lasts but not holding my breath!
Plumber should have come this morning… not going to be here till Thursday earliest now.. when they know you’re retired they think it doesn’t matter when they turn up! OH non to pleased as he plays golf on Thursdays…
Hope everyone has a better week than last one …

Yes, really good news.
If you don’t have a sturdy handrail there are people, retired craftsmen who do these things voluntarily at no cost for labour of materials.
Ask before you leave hospital.
It was done for my husband when he broke his left arm and shoulder, they put a handrail on the right side for him.
Often Age UK charity shops have leaflets for these services .
One step,a deep breath then another and deep breath,it. Will take time but will be a bit easier .
Rest too is really important, and all good wishes to you.
Son just phone .wil come to sirt something out for me, the one here is working abd a conference via the computers later this morning ,so he can’t help just now .
Well must rush off and make it look as if I have done some housework? ???

Apparently, I'm getting a visit from the "Older People's Hospital Social Work Team".
And I am now the proud owner of: A 4-wheeled walker, a 3-wheeled walker, and a 4 wheeled tea-trolley contraption!
Just need to find room for them all!!
Oh! and leaflets re Care Phones and what I call Panic buttons (on lanyard).
Anybody use one?
-
I have a pendant, it’s linked to my landline. If you have a fall for example and can’t get up, you just press the button and after a few seconds someone answers and addresses you by name and asks the problem, they will send help. If you have a key in your key safe they, will keep the access code on record so that access can be gained by whoever comes to your rescue. You don’t have to be near the phone, if they can’t hear you speak they will see someone to investigate.
Touch wood I have not had to use mine, but I press the button periodically to check it is working properly. I really recommend one for someone in your position.
-
Yes, I agree Jebber, I don't have one but my neighbour had, he fell and my neighbour who was called couldn't get him up, paramedics came with a contraption they blew up to get him into a comfortable position where he could stand up, they are useful
LM
-
KG - my mum used to have one that was also linked to a central control room and if she pressed it they would answer her then inform me as well as paramedics if needs be. It was a god send as she often fell and if not near a phone then it worked very well. I’m sure you’ll find it useful and reassuring. Good luck with your 3 & 4 wheeled contraptions!

I have a wristband, so if I need an ambulance, it goes to their base. They can assess my needs and send the help I need. I also have a fob attached to my key ring, so if I am away from home, help is just a press away. (It is GPS monitored.)
Loverly Spring day here (NZ) but rain is coming from tomorrow.

Just to say Grand daughter went to hospital this morning but guess what - Labour started naturally and Lily has arrived.
No details as yet ,daughter texted my son who has just dashed in from next door, “ She’s arrived”
I won’t phone yet , not sure if my daughter has visited yet - I know she will be tactful and let Lilly’s daddy have lots of time there, just the three of them.
You never get that time again do you.
No idea about weight etc but will get those details in good time.
Hope all is well so will be glad to get some news .
No doubt photographs will come too, so that will be lovely.
Thanks folks for your kind wishes already sent about the baby.
Hope all are O.K ,I know there are some problems people are having to cope with, and wish for some improvement for you all.
Cleaned my kitchen cupboards out today - well the wall ones , did base units last week.
A dull but dry day today, hope it is too tomorrow as I want to cover thr garden bench and table in their winter waterproof covers but they need to be dry .
Well hoping for a phone call , weight and perhaps a photo.

Congratulations to Great grandma and the family. Glad baby came naturally.
Both mine were going to be induced, but they couldn’t wait and both came naturally, I think babies have their own ideas about how they want to be born. :)
-
Congratulations from me too.
-
Congratulations Viktoria, wonderful new for you and your family. Great to hear baby arrived safely and labour was a natural one.

Thanks everyone ,a photo of a very chubby little rosy face but her hands were still blue ,probably just minutes old .
I have not fussed them , daughter phoned and of course baby’s daddy had given no info, so no weight ,exact time etc etc.
The little family are being given time , those first few hours never come back do they.
Hope all are well given many have health problems and K G,those concrete steps!
So many of you battling through, your kindness is all the more helpful, thanks everyone.
Did some garden tidying this lovely afternoon , looks much better and some light pruning will be beneficial but the Dogwoods needs proper treatment or they will get very “ solid”.
There are several local firms who do pruning ,anyone can lop but proper thinning out is what I want done.
There is real moss in my plastic lawn!
Fish and Chips for tea so an easy day .
Will phone daughter or she might phone me ,I can remember when baby’s Mummy was born at St.Mary’s in Manchester ,very near Chinatown.
She was lovely ,jet black hair and chubby , so lovely we did wonder if she was perhaps a Chinese Mum’s baby! Mixed up at birth!
However he personality is just her like Mum’s and she does not look Chinese now .
Thanks again folks for your good wishes ,look after yourselves, you are all very special.

Got to church today, our young Rector’s wife had their baby on Tuesday Ben,.
Son drove me and I got the bus back .
Yesterday my son could see from the bedroom window that ambulance men were trying to climb the high garden wall to get into the back entrance of the lady I used to help, I went across with the phone numbers of her daughters as there is now a key code box at her front door.
Well- how rude were they!Would I let them get on !
I said it would be easier if they got the key box code from her daughters with what they were trying to do!
No idea what had happened.
She has not been in touch and I have not been to her house since my heart attack .
Just watched the orogramme about Powell and Pressburger, film makers, one in particular, “ Gone to Earth”—- an adaptation of a book by Mary Webb,Shropshire’s answer to Thomas Hardy.
