Title: My Heritage mailbox chaos
Post by: pandk2 on Wednesday 06 November 24 21:56 GMT (UK)
My Heritage have redesigned their mailbox and made a total mess of it. They no longer provide separate in and out boxes, but have merged it all into a single list by threads, in reverse chronological order.

The thread system is very unreliable. Sometimes, messages that used to be part of threads now appear as isolated single messages. That means you have to scroll through the entire list of threads  to see whether there was any follow up.

To make it worse, there seems to be no way to search the mail box. And if you send a message to someone, the system does not seem to tell you whether you have contacted that person before.

Mine doesn't look too bad but with just five contacts totalling 8 messages in the last 18 months there isn't much to mess with.
I can never quite understand why the message facilities on the sites seem so poor in general, in this day and age the ability to add any image should be available without having to swap emails or add contacts on another platform.

Oh dear that doesn't sound good.

On most of the malboxes I use you can tailor the replies to reverse the date order from earliest to latest and vice versa.  Some boxes have a down arrow above the date and if you click that the list will re-order in the date order you like.  I have not been successful though, in tailoring, so within threads the latest is on top.  Similarly you can change from US format to UK date format and 24 hour clock to 12 hour ie AM/PM

My mailboxes have these threads set-up and what i have found is that if you get a new reply it may show up bolded but if you get two new ones that 'ain't necessarily so'. So I make a practice of scrolling right to the bottom of every thread when I get a reply.
