In 1901 Charles Webb b.1888 Hull was on board the Southampton Industrial School ship. By 1906 he had joined the navy full time but I can't find his records for 1911 .
Does anyone have any suggestions about where to find them please?
He was on the Impregnable from 1907-1914 so presumable the documents will be connected to the Navy.
Thanks
Alison

As a starting point....

The record for Charles Webb, DoB 11 May 1888, signed on 11 May 1906 shows him serving aboard the Britannia 21 Oct 1910 to 14 Oct 1912.
Was the Britannia a training/cadet ship at Portsmouth.

I can see an HMS Britannia, Captain George A Ballard, in 1911. Trying to pin it down to 2 Apr 1911 when Census was taken.

Ah, finally a fact that I can chase, thank you!

Army and Navy Gazette, 1 Apr 1911
THE HOME FLEET - SECOND DIVISION
SECOND BATTLE SQUADRON
Britannia, Capt G Ballard
They were in Ireland in July 1911.
Note - I've ruled out the Royal Yacht Britannia!!

Yay, that's fantastic, this is a whole new area of research for me and it's a steep learning curve.
Thanks

While Ballard is named as Captain, his predecessor was being received by the King about the same time. The item appeared in the Army and Navy Gazette, 1 Apr 1911 - snippet attached.
The Western Morning News reported HMS Britannia departing Portland 30 March 1911 - snippet attached

This is fascinating stuff, thank you

Just in case you missed seeing some replies in your old post:

Treetotal posted an interesting link (reply #5) in that thread.

FindMyPast has a lot of records free to view this weekend; I don't know if you have to register or not.
This is a direct link to the fellow hanes teulu is chasing, and note that his record is continued onto the next page as well:
https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM%2FADM188%2F410%2F0%2F0052&parentid=GBM%2FADM188%2F29038
To find him in the 1921 (which I think is also free this weekend), just enter his name, year of birth, and under Advanced Options, put in Royal Navy, or you'll be scrolling through a lot of men with the same name!

You are quite right I don't know why but i did miss this! How daft when it is something I really want to know about.
Thank you so much for pointing me to it and for all your help.
