hello people.
im looking for a marriage between Samuel John Rees and Hannah Catherine Jones.
Samuel John Rees was born to William Rees and Naomi Rees (nee Walters) on 17th September 1884 in Argoed.
In the 1901 census Samuel John Rees is at Smith Arms Inn, Pengam, Bedwelty with his family.
In the 1911 census he was with his mother Naomi Rees (nee Walters) - again at Smith Arms Inn, Pengam, Bedwelty.
The earliest military record I have is a "Descriptive Report on Joining" where it states the name and address of the next of kin. In this case it is Hannah Catherine Rees, Brookfield House, Aberfan, Glamorgan (wife).
Particulars as to marriage - Hannah Catherine Jones, Merthyr Baptist Chapel, and current address, which is Brookfield House.
There is a date of 10th December 1913 written just below Merthyr Baptist Chapel. This could have been a date he had originally signed up as war was looming. (please see attached)
I did apply to GRO UK with the date 10/12/1913, but they supplied me with the wrong certificate as that Samuel's father was a Thomas Rees not a William Rees.
The dates of 1911 and 1913 are the dates I'm looking at for the marriage of Samuel John Rees and Hannah Catherine Jones. Samuel's parents were William Rees and Naomi Rees (nee Walters).
Samuel died 14th October 1931 at Brookfield House, Aberfan. His fortune left to his wife Hannah Catherine Jones
I can't access free BMD at the moment. Any reference or newspaper notice I would much appreciate. Regards Elaine

This marriage is registered earlier in 1913. Perhaps the marriage was December 1912?

Looking at your earlier thread re William Lewis Rees with the same parents,

Previously married to Mary Ann Jones who is mother of the three children. She died in 1911.

Thank you to all that have contributed. I have amended my original post to include a record of his death on 14th October 1939. Please see attached. He left his fortune to Hannah Catherine Jones. Im not sure why the 1911 census of Samuel John Rees with his children is stated as a widow.
My main search is when did he get married.

Sorry, am I mistaken then in thinking you have the wrong Samuel?
The 1911 Samuel, widower, looks to be the one from the Military record and as glencare posts, he was married to Mary Ann Jones.
You have Samuel living with his mother in 1911.
It seems a bit confusing.
We have given you the likely marriage to Hannah. Is that the one you have which had the ‘wrong’ father?

Just for comparison - here is the Samuel John you mention in your first post with mother Naomi in 1911 census. He is born abt 1885

His occupation ‘assisting in the business’. (Naomi is an Innkeeper)
There is a mention in UK Prisoner Records of Samuel John Rees, born abt 1884, a barman which may be him.(1908)
I posted the other person earlier. That Samuel was born abt 1879 in 1911. He is a Stone Mason and bricklayer.
The military record for Samuel John that you have has a birth abt 1877/79 and he is a Mason.
Later his employer is a Colliery company though but more importantly his address is the same as the probate record you have.

Who look to be together in Merthyr Tydfil.

HELLO HEYWOOD. It appears that I might have been following the wrong Samuel John Rees of which I assumed he had married Hannah Catherine Jones. I even went to the extent of obtaining military records of the other Samuel John Rees. My apologies to all those that have participated in my search. It looks like up until 1921 at age 36 he had not married.
You are quite correct HEYWOOD the 1921 census which I have now sighted is my Samuel John Rees.
The other Samuel John Rees - I mistakenly got the wrong death certificate and newspaper clip of him. Oh dear. At least I have the right birth certificate for him.
