Title: Robert Handisyd
Post by: 0191alex11 on Sunday 27 October 24 17:39 GMT (UK)
Hi! Can anyone help with any of the following?

I have a Robert Handisyd marrying Helene Hadden twice - the first time at Kelso, Roxburgh on 4th December 1664, and then again at Edinburgh on 12th January 1665? They had the following issue:

Robert Handisyd bapt 24th September 1665 Kelso

Jonet Handisyd bapt 4th February 1668 Edinburgh Parish

Margaret Handisyd bapt 5th June 1670 Edinburgh Parish

John Handisyd bapt 17th December 1671 Edinburgh Parish

Helene Handisyd bapt 22nd December 1672 Edinburgh Parish

James Handisyd bapt 26th April 1674 Edinburgh Parish

Robert Handisyd bapt 28th May 1675 Edinburgh Parish

James Handisyd bapt 1st June 1677 Edinburgh Parish

Robert Handisyd i think died 15th October 1690 in Edinburgh and his occupation was a Beltmaker. He is also stated as being a Burgess of Edinburgh?

Helene Hadden i believe was baptised on20th May 1645 in Edinburgh Parish, daughter of a George Hadden and Catherine Gibson. Helene i think died on 11th January 1694 in Edinburgh.

Any help with Robert Handisyd parents greatly appreciated! :)

No, they didn't marry twice.

The church marriage records are in fact the records of the proclamation of banns. If the couple lived in different parishes, the banns had to be proclaimed in both parishes, so you get two records of the same marriage.

The original documents will tell you who lived in which parish and they may even tell you the actual date and place of the wedding.
