Title: Sarah Moore 1824
Post by: bobtonks on Sunday 27 October 24 13:35 GMT (UK)
In 1851 Sarah was living in the High Street Chesterton, Cambridge with her children, Henry Morgan Moore (1846) and Emily Morgan Moore ( 1848) and a visitor Henry Morgan (1821). (poss brother)
Her occupation was stated as " Inn Keepers wife"

Can anyone see where her husband was in 1851, his name, and when they married.? I couldn't find them in 1861?

Hi Bob,

Comparing 1851 to this in 1861 ? I'd be thinking Henry Morgan/Margan is not her brother...

1851: High Street, Chesterton
Head: Sarah Moore married 27, Inkeeper's wife, b Chesterton
Son: Henry Margan Moore 5, b Clare, Suffolk
Dau: Emily Margan Moore, 3, b Chesterton
Visitor: Henry Margan, unmarried, 36, Contractor in navigation, b London
Definitely looks like "Margan" to me

1861: High St, Chesterton
Head, Sarah Moor 40, married, Charwoman,
Son: Harry Moor 15
Dau: Elizabeth 10
Son: Reuben 6
Son: Tom 4
Dau: Sally 16m
Boarder: Harry Morgan 42, Cabinet Maker
All enumerated born Chesterton

MARRIAGE: 1872
Henry Morgan Moore, bachelor, engineer, of 70 Burleigh St,  father Henry, coprolite merchant
Married 12 Jun 1872, Cambridge, St Andrew the Less
Mary Ann Crane , spinster, of 70 Burleigh St,  father Thomas White, Shoemaker.

Interesting occupation on the father on the marriage - one wonders...... ;)

Do you have a birth registration of either of the 2 children on the 1851?

Cheers,
AMBLY

Ambly, Thanks for your reply. Interesting that in both 1851 and 1861 Sarah is listed as married and no husband.
Corporite Digging was a common occupation around Cambridge.

I searched the births for Reuben (no surname) in Chesterton, 1854-56. No match or anywhere near it.

Henry Morgan (24) and Mary Ann Crane (25) were living 70 Burleigh St 1871 census.

Still can't find the husband of Sarah. AND are non of the children's births registered ??

I searched the births for Reuben (no surname) in Chesterton, 1854-56. No match or anywhere near it.

It is Lubin, not Reuben.

MOORE, LUBIN
No mother's maiden name
GRO Reference: 1853  S Quarter in CHESTERTON UNION  Volume 03B  Page 385

He used the name Lubin Moore MORGAN.
