Title: Robert HANNAH/HANNER
Post by: Jenny1 on Saturday 26 October 24 16:27 BST (UK)
Robert was born in 1827 in Thompson, Norfolk. He married Frances Whip in 1851. I've found Frances b 1831 living with her parents in Banham in 1851 but cannot find Robert.

Just wondering if someone might be able to locate him. I've found him from 1861 onwards.

Many thanks

Jenny

You say he married Frances Whip in 1851 - where?  Nothing found in 1851

EDIT

He married Frances Whipp (double p) in 1850 - not 1851.  What was his occupation on the marriage cert?

1861 shows him as an engine stoker.  Could he possibly have been at sea in 1851??

Image of marriage record (1850) is available on Ancestry
Says that Robert Hannah was a labourer and living in Thompson at the time.
Confirms his father was William Hannah, also a labourer
Witnesses were John Downes and Mary Hannah

Frances was only 19 years old when she married Robert in 1850.

I can see her in the 1851 Census. Living in the household of Thomas Whip and family in Banham. Recorded as married and as a visitor, with son Henry (aged 1 month). She was born in Banham. Henry born in Thompson. Robert not listed.

Thanks so much for your replies. It's still a mystery as to where Robert was in 1851.Probably never find him. I've tried all different combinations of his name but nothing comes up.

Thanks again
