Title: Spanish death certificates
Post by: Brie on Saturday 26 October 24 13:02 BST (UK)
I wonder if anyone can help - If one wanted a death certificate for a British citizen who was living in and died in Spain around 2010 how would you go about it?

Thanks
Brie

You need to know the town where they died, and apply to the local authorities. There is no central register.

My husband was a British citizen, resident in Spain, he died in Spain in 2022.
Just be aware that Spanish death certificates don't give a lot of information, apart from the name of the deceased and his date and place of birth.
The names of the parents or wife are not mentioned, neither is the cause of death.

This may be regional.
My husband and both my parents have died in Spain (Catalonia) and in all three death certificates their parents were named.
