Hi, I am trying to find out any information on the death of my Gt Gt Uncle, Robert James Osborne who was born in Carnbeg, Dunaghy, Co Antrim on 12 May, 1878. My Granny recalls uncles dying in both America and Canada and both were called Robert. I found her maternal uncle Robert (Parke) who died in America but haven't managed to find out any information on her paternal uncle Robert (Osborne). Robert O possibly died in Toronto from an accident. He apparently worked for Eaton Stores. Have no idea when he left for Canada or whether he was married or had a family. Any information would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Hi,
Well done Sandra!!
The transcriptions of the 1921 and 1931 census are a bit off re: street names... 1921 Robert J is at 22 Belsize. 1931 Robert J is at 158 Keewatin. In case anyone wants to find them on a map :).
1931 Toronto Directory says Robert J was department manager at Eatons.

I found an article in the Globe and Mail, 30 Dec 1960, page 4. It explains some details of the accident.
It was a 2 car accident - 4 people died, 2 in each car. Both drivers were killed immediately. Robert Osborne was a passenger in one of the cars. He and the passenger in the other car were injured, but both died later at the hospital. The other car was heading north on Don Mills Road. It skidded out of control in the slushy snow, and the south bound car (the one Robert was travelling in) hit the other car.
