Post by: petmas on Monday 21 October 24 15:02 BST (UK)
Is it me or have the GRO stopped displaying mother's maiden names on birth searches? Still shows on the results header but nothing under it

They don't show them for the last 100 years but you can see them on freebmd for that period

They do show them if you know them!  If searching for an unknown child but you know the surname and mmn then that will show in the results.

It also brings up the rest of the results for the quarter alongside the one with the mothers maiden name  :)

Thanks, I'll play around with it a bit more. I've always found Freebmd had only later ones

That is because FreeBMD has been transcribed from the old printed index which did not include mother's maiden names until Q3 1911.
