Hi, I've been looking into my ancestor Elizabeth Keelan (on some records she has Ann as a middle name). She was born about 1863 in Sunderland and married James Butler. In the 1891 census, her father is living with her and he is listed as John Keelan, born in 1841 in Ireland. I've been trying to find any census records or birth registration records for Elizabeth but I can't seem to find any before her marriage. Thank you for your help! :)

For anyone looking for the family in 1891 Ancestry has John as John Kemling living Southwick, Durham - Piece 4146 folio 84 page 38
ADDED
FindMyPast have Elizabeth as Batler and John as Hamling

Back in May 2020 somebody notified an 1891 mistranscription on Ancestry saying that children's birth certs showed mmn Keelan. Have you found her on earlier censuses

I can't see any birth registrations for Butler / Keelan or Keeling prior to Mary :-\

I haven't managed to find her on earlier censuses yet. Is there a possibility that there is a different spelling of the surname that it could be under as her father John was from Ireland?

Thank you! Yes the first names and birth years match up and I think Eliza was born before they got married.

Have you had a look at Ellen Keelan in the 1901 census, she is above James and Elizabeth?
From the paper
Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette
28 April 1902
Ellen Keeling, died at the same address as 1901 and was the relict of Michael Keeling, she was to be interred at Mere Knolls Cemetery
Michael died 1 Aug 1900 after an accident at work; same address

Not sure if Michael is related somehow but thought worth mentioning as another avenue to check.
