My go
C. Greenwood a registered medical practitioner
residing at ...............Did upon his oath saith
On Saturday last the 5th inst, I was called to the college cottage
Hospital when there I found the deceased
unconscious. he was bleeding from the right ear.
The left side of the face was slightly scraped but no
cut. I did not find any bruise. I formed the opinion
that the child was suffering from a fracture
of the base of the skull he made some slight improvement.
for the first day or so. He then got worse and died
from the effects of his injury to the brain between
Tuesday evening the eighth & the
morning of Wednesday the 9th. I have heard the
evidence & I think that he was probably knocked
down by a touch & fractured his skull in falling.

Could it be ‘residing at Ripon’? There are newspaper mentions (1915, 1931) of a Dr C (H) Greenwood of Ripon.
-
Also: if it is Ripon (or even if it isn’t), perhaps ‘Cottage Hospital’?

Oh yes, Cottage Hospital is better.

Thank you everyone for your help. I have now managed to fill in the gaps in my own transcription. Incidentally, the young child was taken to Ripon Cottage Hospital, having been caught between two beer barrels whilst playing hide and seek with his 6 year old sister as his father was unloading empty barrels from his dray.

What a sad story, and awful for the father.
Doesn't make any difference but I think it's 'residing in Ripon' not 'at Ripon'
-
Knocked down by a truck.
craggagh.

I now think it’s knocked down by a barrel
-
It was a barrel. I’ve got other documents that confirm it.
