Guess at 1870's but NOT an expert, A tad easier to see perhaps

Helpful if you post some info re birthdate etc.

Was he the William Chiffey b 9.5.1794 Rochester Kent?  Parents George & Frances?

Died 1867 Surrey?

No William Chiffey death in 1898 in England so must be another country

That's only what Rod said in the 2017 thread, Carole.

I still think it's most likely that the pic was taken in the 1870s. Those strange bow ties were 'in' then.

There are quite a lot of old requests. I think it's mainly Kent.

I've found a few photographs for sale on Ebay that show similar neck attire - dated 1870s to 1880

Photo is of William Silverton Kettle CHIFFEY born 12 May 1813 Rochester Kent Transported to Tasmania 1833 died 3 Sep 1898 Hobart Tasmania Australia. Many thanks to all who have replied most kindly which is most appreciated
