Title: Hoare & Sons, undertakers. SE London in WW2
Post by: Copper1 on Sunday 06 October 24 23:32 BST (UK)
I am struggling to find this business listed in online directories -incl 1939 Register. One cornerstone of the memorial kerbs is clearly etched with the name. I've no doubt the business is no longer in existence, probably closed or taken over, but if anyone recognises the name and can assist with any trace of them I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Thank you, thank you - one and all 3. Looking under the wrong trade! Further research can now proceed now that once again Rootschatters have come to the fore. Keith

Thank you Chris. This location {280 Shooters Hill)) sadly 'matches' with the current google streetview which is a ramped pedestrian footbridge over the main road! Although in the passing decades of course who knows what existed at that point once the business closed. Only a feint hope really, the real possibility of gaining knowledge will stem from contacting any local undertakers who may have retained their day-books.
