Hi
This man is on the Childrey War memorial (was Berkshire but now Oxfordshire). He died in an accident on 17 Dec 1942 in the UK and is buried in Childrey Churchyard. I am struggling to find out the circumstances of his death and so hope that someone will be able to help.
Note that the CWGC site says his date of death was 17 Dec 1941 whilst the Casualty List says 17 Dec 1942. Neither give his unit within the RASC.
Whilst he lived in Childrey having married Evelyn Daisy Welch in 1928 he seems to have been born in Liverpool and the CWGC entry says his parents were Robert James and Mary Bennett. The 1939 Register says his dob was 6 Aug 1904 but I am struggling to find his parents or his early life. Nothing is showing up in FindMyPast newspaper searches either.
All a bit of a mystery so any help much appreciated.

Many thanks for this. I don't know why I was having problems with the family history side of it. Somehow I managed to miss the fact his mother's maiden name was Owen and so I ended up with a number of possibles, including those you gave.
