Hello all you lovely people,
I am hoping someone can help me with information that may exist on a bastardy record.
I am looking for the father of:
Thomas son of Anne Biddle of Barwell, a servant.
The Baptism record in the Barwell register states:
Thomas the illegitimate son of Anne Biddle 7 March 1814.
I'm hoping there is a record that might give his fathers name.
Any help would be appreciated,
Linda

Hi
I have the L & RFHS CD 53 which is Leicestershire & Rutland Poor Law index 1596 -1940's which includes Order Books Bastardy 1678-1832 and I can't see an entry for Thomas or Anne Biddle. I think you may need to contact the records office and see what they suggest there maybe vestry records that may help you

Hi. Bunnygirl,
I'm researching this family for someone else, but the Anne Biddle I have states in the 1851 and 1861 census that she was from Newbold Verdon around 1793. I have confirmed that with records from FindMyPast (The original is on there) and Anne was baptised 19 November 1792 at Newbold Verdon.
Her Father was William and her mother was Jane.
Mountsorrel is 13 miles away and
Rothley is 12 miles away.
I hope this helps.

At the DRO they hold a Book listing payments made as required and stated on the Bastardy bond. It would be worth enquiring if Leicester recordarchives contain similar information.

Hi Mowsehowse,
Does DRO stand for Derbyshire Records Office?
I'm not sure.
