Jane married into our family (Innocent) in 1820 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire but on each census it gives here place of birth as either Sheffield/Kirkliston Scotland or Bolsover Derbyshire!
When she married, her father was named as Joseph Worth, doctor. I've just found a baptism record in Kirkliston for 1799 for a Jane Worth with father Joseph, mother Jean Proctor but cannot access the record to see if there is any further information.
Just wondered if anyone could help
Many thanks

Hello
The original image is available on Scots People but it is pay to view.
Joseph Worth seems to have married Jane Procter at Auckland St Helen 10.3.1796.
It was by licence which I've only seen the transcript.
He was of Barnard Castle and made a mark instead of signing which seems strange if he was a Doctor.
Jane was the only one born at Kirkliston
Elizabeth bapt 27.4.1796 Barnard's Castle
Nancy 20.4.1801 Worksop
I'll see what else I can did up.
ps How do you know he was a Dr in 1820?

Hi Jenny1, I had a few credits to spare and have downloaded a copy of Jane/Jean Worth's birth/Baptism record.
Unfortunately the file is too large to put on here and I am useless at cropping things so I have sent you a PM.

Hi
It looks like there were a couple of younger brothers.
Thomas Procter Worth or Worth Procter born c 1808 Chesterfield a hawker ,glass seller etc married Elizabeth Bostock 13.7.1829 Chesterfield.
Son John (Jarvis Proctor bapt 5.9.1830) Worth
Jane Proctor worth bapt 25.9.1832
Elizabeth 1835, Thomas 1837 ,Joseph 1841 and Charles 1844.
Then Joseph Proctor Worth again he exchanges the surnames at will. Born c 1806 Leeds.Bapt 30.11.1806 s of Joseph Procter . Lives in Sheffield with wife Jane Proctor.Marriage 7.2.1834 as Joseph Worth Proctor Sheffield Cathedral.
Children Elizabeth 1830 ,Joseph Worth Procter 1836,Richard 1837 ,Ann 1840,Jane 1846,John 1848.
Joseph died c 1850.
It all seems very weird. Why the change in names?

Hi Ciderdrinker
it certainly is a weird family. It's taken ages to sort out. Jane remarried in 1851 in Sheffield and that's where I found her father's name and occupation.
The info you have found seems to fit as Jane's first marriage was in Chesterfield. I'll take a look at all the info you have found.
Thanks so much

I've looked at the baptisms for Elizabeth, Jane and Nancy and they seem to fit, but I can't find the baptisms of Joseph Proctor Worth Leeds and Thomas Procter Worth Chesterfield. Where did you find them? I use FindMyPast.

Hi
I found Joseph born 1806 at Leeds St Peters .He is baptised as Joseph Proctor of Kirkgate and is on Ancestry.
I can't find Thomas either as Worth or Proctor. The 1851 census gives him as Thomas Worth born 1808 Chesterfield. He marries in 1829 as Worth Proctor and is Proctor on the rest of the censuses.
