I'm looking for the burial place of an Elizabeth Mary Dempsey nee Hatchell who died on the 8th of October 1927 in Rathdrum in Wicklow.
I have looked on FindAGrave for the cemeteries in Rathdrum but no record has been added for Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was born in Rathdrum in 1899 and married a Patrick Joseph Dempsey in Rathdrum in 1925.
Both parents lived and died in Rathdrum but I have yet to find a death record for her husband Patrick.
The family may not have had money for a headstone. I know in Scotland the local registry office can be helpful in finding a grave but I don't know where to ask in Ireland.
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Is this her death?

She didn’t die in Rathdrum, she died at Strand St. Wicklow Urban District otherwise Wicklow town.

Hi there
Yes that is her and I realise she died at Strand Street but why was the death registered as Rathdrum? Was that just the nearest Registry Office?
I know in Scotland, especially the Highlands, events can be registered far from where they actually occurred.
-
Her death would have been registered in Wicklow but that is in the Superintendent Registrars District of Rathdrum.
Have a look at the top of the image.
I was surprised she wasn’t in Wicklow but if you look there are no deaths in Wicklow in 1927 so I think it’s a case of Wicklow becoming a Superintendent District at a later date.
Edit, putting in Wicklow as the Reg District on Irish Genealogy for Births, Marriages and Deaths there are only 98 results

Hi
Patrick was young when Elizabeth died. Have you checked to see whether he re-married.

It would be worth checking to see if Patrick (a widower) re-married after 1927.

Have you been able to find a marriage?

I asked that question already today. No need to duplicate

Thanks everyone.
I do already have the marriage record for Elizabeth and Patrick in 1925 and I have her birth and death. As for Patrick there are quite a few possibilities I need to check for his birth record before I can definitely say that is him. All I have to go on is his Father's name, Michael, and that he was at least 21 when he and Elizabeth married (they were both recorded as Full Age).
It would just be good to find out where Elizabeth is buried.

As she was so young she may have been buried with her own family.
I take it this is them in 1911
http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wicklow/Glenealy/Kilcandra/897724/ same address as 1899 birth cert.
Or she is in Wicklow town
Or if buried with her husband’s family it’s impossible to search as we don’t know where he was from.
In all three cases it’s unlikely she has a headstone and I can’t see a death notice for her or her parents.
It’s very unlikely (unless her husband was from there) that she is in Rathdrum.

I was asking you if you had found the marriage!

I do already have the marriage record for Elizabeth and Patrick in 1925 and I have her birth and death.
So you know that she was born in the village of Glenealy on 25 August 1899. MMN Lawler
