Title: St Paul’s Road, Islington
Post by: Selby on Tuesday 24 September 24 17:46 BST (UK)
Hello,

I’m currently researching an address in Islington. I can find the address (18 St. Paul’s Road) on early census returns, but I can’t find it in 1911 or on the 1939 Register.

Does anyone know if the address changed over the years? Or were the census returns lost/destroyed? I can find the bigger numbers but not number 18! Seems odd…

I don’t know who lived there (I’m trying to do the history of the house) so it’s all a bit hit and miss.

Thanks, Selby

Newspaper reports place it near Highbury Station. 1893 town plan -

If I have the correct St Pauls Road you should be able to find the 1911 at Ancestry by searching for Thomas Donald Kent, born 1909

And for 1939 search for Thomas W Powell 1894 with spouse Eva

Do you have access to online papers (FindMyPast or BNA)? The Islington Gazette is covered - eg

27 Mar 1868
