Title: Convict ancestor
Post by: angel~eyes on Sunday 22 September 24 20:22 BST (UK)
I am trying to locate the whereabouts of a William Lowns (various spellings) who may have been transported to Australia any time after 1799. It's possible he stayed there and had another family and died out there. Any information on this would be most useful. William was born in Warwickshire, England in c 1780. Thank you in advance

Have you tried to search here (not complete list of all convicts, but a good starting point):
https://convictrecords.com.au/

What other information do you have about William LOWNS - other spellings, baptism, parents etc? Why do you think he was transported?

There is a William LOWNS transported to Tasmania on the John arriving in Jan 1831aged 29. However his native place is given as Doncaster, tried in Middlesex. So too young for your William.
