Checking information on Mary Ann nee Stuart died 1838 Liverpool, NSW who arrived on Experiment coming Free.
A person has put a reference on FamilySearch which is "Arrived 24 June 1804 on the ship Experiment. Shipping list shows Mary Ann PEARCE, a son of Mary Ann PEARCE & daughter of Mary Ann PEARCE. http://www.blaxland.com/ozships/events/8/785.htm"
The Blaxland website is no longer or under a different name?
As for the reference of a son and daughter (being Maria Jane nee PEARCE).
Wasn't aware of a son.

Mary Ann PEARCE appears on a list of settlers and convicts in 1816 -"came free" on the Expt (Experiment), June 1804. - on ancestry if you have a subscription:
https://www.ancestry.com.au/imageviewer/collections/1183/images/IMAUS1787_114213-00160
The Experiment arrived with mainly female convicts, however there were also 9 settlers and their families.
A few mentions of the arrival on trove eg:

Thank you. The Trove article is interesting. Forgot about the Wayback machine archive. Blaxland another old website that is no longer.

The 1828 census shows Maria as aged 23 and born in the colony.

Dundee - If the 1828 Census you saw has her with a William Duggan same place that is my MariaJane.
Maddys52 - Looking at the 1816 Census on Mary Ann Stuart d1838 can you read what is on the second page?
-
I think the columns on the next page are:
Period for which transported (blank)
How disposed of (landholder)
Whether state resident in the colony (in the city)
Remarks (blank)

Agreed - from FindMyPast
Mary Ann Pierce; Arrival - June 1804; Ship - Experiment; Master - Withers; Where tried - Came free; When tried - blank; How Disposed of - Landholder; Residence - in the Colony
A 56** year old Mary Ann Pearce came out on the Experiment. A Thomas Pearce, age 84**, sentenced 14 years Leicester Assizes (stealing lead) arrived on the Coromandel May 1804. The two ships left Spithead, Dec 4 1803 but the Experiment turned back for repairs and arrived a few weeks later. Thomas and Mary Ann, with sons Edgar 16 and William 14, all labourers, ended up in the Liverpool District.
Cannot spot the Mary Ann with son/daughter.
** - cannot determine if the age reflects age at arrival or when the record was compiled?
Update - "Convict Records" has a death date of 10 Mar 1831, age 89 for Thomas - age at transportation would be about 61?

You need to find out what the source references stand for. They might be for submitted info so may not be reliable.
