Title: James Collins, William Rye, Caroline Buckland
Post by: DNichol on Tuesday 17 September 24 09:03 BST (UK)
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me with the spider web of a family tree I am currently trying to figure out.

My 3 x Great Grandfather was James Collins, b.Abt1861 in Five Oak Green Kent.

As far as I can tell he married my 3 x Great Grandmother Louisa Wright on Xmas day 1884 in Benchley, Kent. His father is stated as Frederick Collins.

I believe James died in 1914 in Yalding, Kent. He was listed as an ag lab in the 1891-1911 census.

I can’t seem to find him in the 1881 census (a few years before his marriage) and in the 1871 census he is listed as living in Ticehurst, Sussex at 6 years old.

He is with a gentleman called William Kye/Rye, a travelling tinkerman and Caroline Buckland (Williams ‘Companion’) James Collins is listed as ‘adopted child’.

Strangely on the 1911 census, he has a brother Arthur Collins listed as living with him also born in Five Oak Green, he is five years younger than James.

I am trying to find out if James father was actually a Frederick Collins, who William Kye/Rye and Caroline Buckland are and if there’s anymore Collins family out there. And anything on Arthur Collins.
