Title: Tracing correct Italian Surname
Post by: EdithKennedy21 on Monday 16 September 24 08:48 BST (UK)
Wondering if anyone can tell me best place to start researching someone’s correct surname

Individual born in Genoa circa 1888
Died in Dundee 1960
Official Census data shows he was born in Genoa
Lived jn same property for decades in Scotland even though his spouse emigrated to Canada in 1927 and listed herself as Widowed

Have possible name for Father - two different Christian names been giving and also name for his Mother but it is also the altered version for surname (Rennie)

Do not know if the parents also migrated to Scotland or stayed in Italy

Helping a parishioner of my Cousin’s church based in Canada

Anything much appreciated

I assume we are enquiring about Dora Rennie, husband of Helen Ryan & son of Agostino & Maria

Hello
Yes Dora Rennie son of Maria and Agostino/Antonio Rennie

His Granddaughter always had his name as Antonio

Did find Genoa Website with huge volume of data but no way of knowing what to search for at outset

Thanks
