Title: 3322514 Acting Sgt A Inglis
Post by: Papa Paul on Tuesday 10 September 24 15:52 BST (UK)
Hi,
I'm trying to trace  3322514 A/Sgt Alexander Inglis. I cant seem to trace him through Fold3 or any of the other genealogy sites. I believe he was in the Highland Light Infantry ( Glasgow regiment ) during WW2. He has medals and on the War Medal he has a clasp for being mentioned in dispatches which is what I'm really hoping to find out about. I think he was from Ayrshire, Scotland but has family connections in Edinburgh. Can you help?
Found a listing of him in the London Gazette:

The National Archives (which has only recently begun to receive this material from the MoD) is operating a "115 years from birth year" rule on confidentiality.

But see this: " You can Request a search of closed records for this MOD Personnel records : War Office: Infantry Over Age Other Ranks: Service Records, Second World War if you can provide us with an official death certificate or published obituary, as evidence that the person in the record is no longer living. If the record can be opened, we will make it available and send you a copy."
