Good afternoon
I'm searching for information about my 2x great aunt Hannah.
She was born around 1854 to Henry Harrison and Hannah Barnett in Broadholme, Notts. She was baptised in St Helens. Thorney on 9th February 1854.
In 1861 she is living with parents Henry and Hannah; half brothers William and Henry; brother Charles and sisters Sarah and Martha. in Broadholme, Notts.
I cannot seem to find her after this. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

This is not my Hannah. She was born in Broadholme, Notts and is on the 1861 Census aged 7.
Henry Harrison, widow marries Hannah Barnett on 8 March 1853. Hannah is baptised in the same church on 9th February.

Gainsborough was the nearest registry office to Broadholme. Her mother was married before.

Oh I see. However my great grandmother was also born Broadholme and she was registered Newark

Historically, Broadholme was in Nottinghamshire, and came under the Newark Registration District, and a birth in Broadholme would have had to be registered in the Newark District. Distance doesn't come into it - it's all about which district it happened in.
There are a few nearby places, eg Kettlethorpe and Newton on Trent, which were in Lincolnshire and in the Gainsborough Registration District. So if she was born while her mother was visiting one of these places, they'd have had to register her in the Gainsborough District.
(In 1989 Broadholme was transferred to Lincolnshire and the Lincoln Registration District, as it then was, but that's not relevant to the question here.)
-
Yes I thought this too. Hannah's parents marriage was registered in Newark as are a number of other births and burials.
I have found a death for a Hannah Harrison registered in Newark in 1865 so its possible that could be her since I can't see any evidence of her after 1861.
-
The death in 1865 is not my Hannah. GRO shows she's 73 so she could potentially be Hannah's grandmother.

Would check out this family, a good possible. Mmm is Harrison

Deleted.

Oh that all looks promising. I'll investigate further.
Sounds more plausible than another route I was following of her getting married in Lincoln.
-
This 1939 suggests that may not be her death in 1913

Has links to son Alfred being the son of Hannah/Annie & William Hinton

I've just had a quick look and I think maybe this is my Hannah. She's obviously changed her POB to Thorney which is more or less right,

It looks like he was registered Vincent, but called William?
Also a daughter was called Rose, her marriage 1915 online with his details as William. Looks like after 1911 from 1921? he was recorded as Vincent...unless there is a better explanation.
Added: John Hinton & Rose Essex married 1840 - image online. No William Hinton registered same area/time.

Certainly all sounds plausible. My dad on his birth certificate is Raymond but has always gone by the name of Tom. His mum wanted him called Raymond, his dad Thomas but she registered the birth but he refused to call him it, so Tom stuck. Same with his younger brother Dick, who was registered Christopher. Could this possibly be the case here?
-
Its definitely my Hannah. Just been looking at the 1891 Census in detail and her place of birth is listed as Lincoln, Broadholme, Saxilby. Guess she couldnt decide but at least there is a link now to Broadholme

Thats what I've just started looking foir. I'd figured from the 1911 that the wedding must have been around 1880 since it said married for 30 years. However I was looking around Broadholme since thats where the oldest son was born, but i guess she could have been visiting.
The next oldest is born in Yorkshire so with this marriage adds weight to her visiting around birth of oldest son.
William is a railway signalman and thet certainly travel around a fair bit.

Hannah's 2 older half-siblings are residents of Pitsmoor which doesn't look too far from there. So perhaps she was visiting them at some point?

Still trying to find a death for her

Looking again at 1881 the people they are boarding with..wife Ann is born Bucks, so could be sister to William..but not checked.
Think this is a good possible

Thats the one I keep going back too. We know she's in Sussex in 1939 but mauve Alfred joined up and she went to live with a daughter?

I've found a tree that seems to be linked to the Hintons and they have a photo of Vincent. They have the death of Hannah in Spilsby and their daughter Rose also dies in Spilsby. In 1939 Rose is in Spilsby
