Title: Jean ( Jane) Douglas Hay (born Walker) obituary
Post by: apthorpea on Monday 09 September 24 02:05 BST (UK)
I am looking for the obituary or burial of Jean Hay.  All the information I have on her is
Jean Douglas Walker was born on 13 April 1911 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, the daughter of Elizabeth Douglas and William Walker. She married Hector Wylie Hay on 27 October 1932. They had two children during their marriage. She had three sisters. She died on 26 December 2004 in Southport, Queensland at the age of 93. Her husband died in 1954 in Glasgow.
I know this is a long shot.  Thank you  for any information

Her funeral notice is listed on the Ryerson index:
https://ryersonindex.org/search.php

HAY Jean Douglas d. 26 Dec 2004, age 93yrs, late of Ashmore.
Published: Gold Coast Bulletin 29 Dec 2004

I suggest you contact Ryerson and request a lookup of the funeral notice.
Also contact the Southport Cemetery to see if they have her on their records.
There are also several other cemeteries within the Gold Coast area.

Did she come to Australia to live with a family member?

I'm only asking as I can see her on the ERolls with a male that is likely her son given his name.

She arrived 1955 at Melbourne with her two children aboard the Georgic.
