I saw on the Library of Wales website that there's a licence for a marriage in Denbighshire I'm interested in. Is there any way to see it apart from visiting the archives in Wales?

Have you read their website? If you use Google it seems to suggest you need to be a library member & create an account & login
I may be reading it wrongly so best to have a look yourself

Like you baytree, I’ve not read the website, but often it’s cheaper to request and pay for a photocopy/scan than to visit (and pay for a copy!).

I've been around and around their website and I don't find it clear. But I guess it's the usual thing - either you have to visit in person or pay for a librarian to send you a copy of the document remotely. They don't say how much it costs but if it's similar to other archives, maybe £25-30? I'll check, but if so then that's unaffordable. If genealogy only required the purchase of a single document like this, fair enough, but it requires scores of such docs and is therefore potentially an enormous money pit. I understand why they charge, but does it need to be so expensive?
OK, rant over. Thanks to all who replied.

"does it need to be so expensive"
well, yes, it does!
Archiving old documents is not cheap...and someone has to pay!

Why not give them a ring tomorrow to check? Might be cheaper in the long run

And perhaps check what details you can expect to find in the marriage licence, if there is particular information you are looking for. The ones I have seen have little more than the date, the names of the people marrying, their parishes, the place where the licence permits them to marry, and the groom's signature.

I agree that the licence is unlikely to offer much new info, but when you're faced with a brick wall every little bit counts.

you can contact the library online to ask about price and what details may be included

Have you got the marriage itself or are you just looking for the licence.

FamilySearch has the original documents microfilmed. You can view online and download. You need to know the year and diocese and the date. It is fussy to find the one you are looking for - a typical volume will have 100s of images, and there can be more than one volume for a year, but split into date sections like Jan - Jun. You can search for the actual marriage bond you want - either at the National Library of Wales - or at FamilySearch - which will give you the bare minimum - their names, the diocese, and the date. I prefer to use the Library of Wales search to find the basic transcript ,and if I then want to see the actual document - I have to go to FamilySearch.

that's a link to the marriage bonds collection on Family Search
Clicking on a volume and then looking at various images also shows a row of icons at the top right of each image screen. The download option is the 3rd icon from the left - the one with a down arrow on. Downloaded fine to my computer.
