A long shot - as always! looking for any possible baptisms of this Edward Ryley between 1690 and1720. Also possibly looking for his death that may reveal more information.
He is quoted as a Miller of Wheelock so assume that he was born in the Sandbach area.
His children wee also baptised in the Barthomley Parish and shown in the registers a s resident in Wheelock.
Any clues would be wonderful!
Am making great headway now with this research and just giving it one last shot at working back another generation- with bated breath!
Many thanks
Caroline

Where have you already searched queenswood?
It would save Rootschatters time to be able to discount what avenues you have already tried.
No birth comes up on familyesearch.org, although they are several from neighborouring counties, so he may not have been born in Cheshire.
This part of Cheshire is not far from the Staffordshire border, or even the Derbyshire border.
Previous post to get this far

Have you seen this document at The National Archives?
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/57d5937e-f85e-4709-bc87-86af9e9f26e8
Edward Ryley, miller of Sandbach, regarding 'messuage and lands at Wolstanton'.
Wolstanton is in Stafforshire about 13 miles south of Sandbach.

Thank you - yes I have bignall hill document buf there were several edward ryleys in the area at the time so I suspect tracing back this soecific edward who married in 1735 a bit like a needle in a haystack. He married by licence and i have found the image but I think I may haveto rule a line at thus point.Thank you all so much.

Hello
If it were me I'd assume one set of grandparents were living at Barthomley.
There is a Richard Ryley there with children
John 1699 Barthomley
Richard 1701 Bart.
Thomas 1702 Bart
Sarah 1705 Bart
Edward 5.7.1707 Audley St James
Anna 1709 Audley
Richard yeoman buried 28.1.1726.
Mary looks to be of Sandbach born c 11.6. 1714 d of William
Just my guess

Thank you.
Did you find him? :)

I found his marriage - and possibly 3 children - John 'Rayley' 1736, Edward Ryley 1739 and Elizabeth Ryley 1743- all bap at Sandbach showing residence at wheelock - where I believe Edward Ryley was the Miller there.
Cannot be definitive as to the Edward Ryley paying land tax for a Mill in 1782 in Sandbach but it is quite likely to be the son born in 1739 bearing in mind life spans at that time.
Sometimes you just have ta accept that you have exhausted all resources!
