Hello,

My wife is from East London and she has inherited a batch of photos, including one of Webbe Football Team 1st 11 from the early 20th century, pre WW1 judging by the clothes etc.  We assume that one of the players is a relative, but I can't find any reference to Webbe Football Team, so does anyone know anything about them?  The photo is on a postcard and was taken by Hinton, 54 Mare Street, Hackney, so I assume they were a local team.

Could Webbe have been a company making it an employees football team?

Possible mention in the Eastern Argus and Borough of Hackney Times on 19 October 1895. Described as "Webbe Athletic Football Club."

Thanks for the swift replies and I should have checked newspapers myself, as I've now looked and Webbe Athletic get loads of mentions in the London papers!
