Hi
I know this may be a huge ask but I'm researching a work colleagues ancestry and have found out her GGG Grandparents were Italian.
Their Surname was Lertoria and I know for the most part they are North East based and appear in censuses as early as 1851/1861 but I'd love to know what region of Italy they come from?
Is Lertoria a common surname in Italy?
Any help would be gratefully received

Is this the ice cream selling Lertoria family in Newcastle?
This document mentions the family quite a bit (pages 28-30):
