Title: Date an old photo please. Hacketts, Glasgow.
Post by: Maccahc on Monday 05 August 24 21:51 BST (UK)
Hi we are not sure who is in this photo left by my grandmother.

A period or date may help, possibly Glasgow but not certain, the shops are too blurry to make anything out so a place is unlikely. As well as the number on the pic the back of the photograph is stamped WALKING PICTURES.

I found a little more about these ambush style pics from this site https://ascottishfamilyalbum.com/category/walking-pictures/ and it could be  a seaside town also. It looks like a motor charabanc in the background which may help.
Thanks for any help

Thanks for the guess. It's probably accurate given the article I attached though I've read charabancs became less popular after WW1 and wondered if it could be pre war?

Very 1920's hat on lady walking away from camera. Could even be early 1930's, older ladies were more likely to wear longer skirts, rather than the more modern styles.

Thanks for the responses. It may help in my search, we think but aren`t sure it may be a photo of my great grandmother Jane Hackett nee Mcguigan who died in 1940 aged 61 and there are no other exisiting photos we know of.
