I have two photos of beach scenes I can't identify the location of. Both feature my grandad, one with I think my mum or my aunt as a baby from the late 1930s or late 1940s. I thought they were in Ramsgate because of the arches in the background but I was wrong, can anyone help? And can anyone clean up the crease marks?

I will leave "where" to the experts

They look miles better, many thanks, it's much appreciated.

Looks like Brighton to me, the hotel in the background looks similar to what is now the Harbour Hotel (64 King's Road) and there are beach stalls with large arched windows that look very similar, the positioning of which fits in with that perspective of the hotel (the stalls are not visible from the road). Just the little turret roof on the hotel is different, but that could simply have been replaced.

I think gaffy is spot on!

Great link Little Nell, I looked online for a perspective like that for ages.

I would agree with agree with gaffy & Little Nell - I've add a piece of deejayEn's photos to a screen shot of Google street view 2019.

Thanks to all of you, it's much appreciated. I can see it's Brighton now between the two piers. I had no idea my grapndpaprents holidayed in Brighton back then, they usually went to Kent, so it was a surprise.
The colourised photo is lovely, thank you for doing that.

By the way, the name of the hotel (currently called the Harbour Hotel) that you can almost make out in the background of the photo of your granddad in his swimming costume is 'HOTEL VICTORIA', if you search online you will find images to corroborate that, newspaper references indicate that it operated under that name at least into the 1920s.

Thanks for the info. I think it is my mum as a baby in the photo with the pram so that would date it circa 1938 so it would fit in with what you say. I don't know where they stayed in Brighton but it could have been that hotel.
