Hello
Is this word 'formerly' please?
Many thanks
Chris

No.
From what can be seen in this very poorly image I think the word ends in -lly.
But I may have suffered from pixel blindness...
If you want your question answered, I urge you to post a decent image, with some extra text and some info about what sort of document this is.

It's a photo from a book, best I can do with macro on etc
It's from a war diary.
Here is the rest, I know what the rest says.
'A' Coy 10th DCLI
Transferred to
RE of(?) 251st
Tunneling
Coy RE on
20th Sept 1915
So basically the A Coy DCLI became 251 Tunneling Company Royal Engineers.
It's the first word that is puzzling me.

Good call, could well be.
Thank you everyone else.
It wouldn't be signals or signal coy.
I can make out originally I think, looks to be right?

Hi,
I think that the word is "Signally" - used to put emphasis on the information or instructions that follow.

Excellent, thank you Istrice, I think you may have hit the nail on the head.
And well done to the forum members who suggested signal related words.
Thank you all for your time.
