Post by: Parmesan on Monday 22 July 24 12:23 BST (UK)
Hi, Can anyone decipher the bride's surname on the very last entry here? It is that blurry!
John Burgin married Ellen ?????
Also any idea of the day?
Thank you.

The xxvth day (25 November 1634)
Wrydyte?  Wrighte

On second thoughts, the second 'y' is much more like an 'h'. I suspect it may be Wrighte, with what at first looks like the tail of a 'y' being that of a 'g', attached to what at first looked like a 'd', but what seemed to be the riser from a 'd' is the dot of the 'i', a bit stretched.

FindMyPast says Wridete whilst Cheshire Parish Register Project (Cprdb) says Wrighte

Thank you both. I'd seen the Wridete entry but wasn't convinced. Wrighte sounds a much better option.

Thanks again.

The marriage above, between Richard Beighton and Jane Smith, provides a good exemplar for for the i-g-h-t sequence of letters in this handwriting.
