Hi,
I have found a photograph amongst my late aunts photos, it is a one inch square black and white photo of a woman and on the back it says Miss Cwm 1946. I'm not sure if it says love Maud or Mair, which may not help at all. I'm curious just in case she is related in any way. I have tried to google but haven't managed to find anything out.
Kind Regards

There are no entries for the surname Cwm in FreeBMD. It sounds like a nickname.
My Welsh vocabulary is nil, but I know the word is Welsh for a particular type of valley, a circular hollow high in a mountain from which a glacier starts. The term is known to geographers, along with its Scottish equivalent corrie and the French cirque.
Added: May be a minor placename.

Is it something to do with a beauty contest.. :)

Added - I also think it sounds like a beauty title, but not sure if there would be any records for era, or where kept.

Thank you for your time. I should have been more specific. I think Miss Cwm would be like a Pageant like Miss World. I was wondering if there had been a parade or such but Cwm is only a small village.

Wow, Thank you for that link, amazing photo's. I'll have to research Alwena Roberts now to see if there's a link or she was just a family friend.
Kind Regards
