Hello there,
The above person was one of my great grandad's. At the time of the 1901 census he was living at 24, Gaunt Street, listed as being aged 20 and an Iron Fitter.
Does anyone please know what this job may have involved please?
I do know that he worked for Robey and Co on Canwick Road in Lincoln.
By 1904 when he married for the first time, his occupation was written as an engineer. When the 1911 census was taken his occupation was put down as an Oil and Gas Engine erector.
Does anyone please know what these oil and gas engines made by Robey did please?
By 1916 at the birth of his first child he was an engine fitter. He became an electrician between 1919 and 1923.
Any information would be gratefully accepted.
Thank you very much. :) ;)
