Hi
Hoping one of you kind folk with take this task on. Looking to have the photo colourised in the colours of Glasgow Celtic FC. The photo is of a player Peter Johnstone who was killed in action in May 1917. He had a slightly reddy complexion with browny/red hair. If the image could be cut out from the background that would be great.
Thanks in anticipation.

Just a quick attempt. Is that the correct green or?
-
Thanks for a great first attempt!!! The green colour is just about there. The jersey would be woolen, its has a bit of a shine on it at the moment.

My Try. No change to background.
What kind of background are you looking for?

Hi
Thanks for taking the project on. I am looking to have him cut out of the background entirely. I want to be able to place him in another image.
Thanks

There you are. I have a transparent background png of it but the forum’s file size limitation would not allow it. :-[

Thanks guys. You're efforts are appreciated.

iammcallum - don't know if this will work when the file is uploaded but I played around with my old software (Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 that runs on Windows Vista :) ) and I have created a png (Portable Network Graphics) file. You will have seen from yansan's comment that when he created a png file it was too large to upload to rootschat. I too have cut out the footballer from yansan's jpg file and created a small png file. In my world the png files I call transparencies and I can take a copy of the png file and add it to a jpg file; save the jpg file and the png file becomes part of the jpg file.
I will upload your original Peter Johnstone file with a png and jpg file embedded into it. You should see the png file shows only the cut out figure wheras the jpg file shows the figure and the white background. I will then upload the very small png file . If this works you should be able to download/save the png file. When you add a png file to a jpg file it will nrmally have an outlie and the outline can be dragged by the corners to create a larger image to add into the jpg fie.
I will check out the png file after I have posted this comment + files to see if all is OK.

ianmccallum - checked the png file after poasting and it download Ok and I uesd it to add to a jpg fi;e withut problems.
The size of the png file is w0.89 x h1.22 inches and that can be expanded by dragging a corner of the file when the original is copied and pasted onto a jpg file.
Hope that helps.

After seeing all the efforts of Eggy1948 to make the transparent PNG available, I found an online service to share the original files at maximum quality, here are the links to download them:

I added a second version as I wasn’t totally satisfied with the realism of my previous colorization (though you might prefer the first version, sometimes “real” colors can feel a bit dull).
Here’s a jpeg of the new version:

And just for fun…

A try from me, regards, John.
