Title: Where can I see original Staffs records?
Post by: Annie65115 on Tuesday 02 July 24 20:09 BST (UK)
My ancestors were from Bilston, Sedgeley, Wolverhampton, Cosely, Tipton.

Are copies (scans rather than transcripts) of PRs available online anywhere?

I've previously saved a link to online transcriptions of the PRs of St Leonards in Bilston, and I've found a few transcriptions on FreeReg but just can't find much else online. And I can't find the St Leonards link now! Am I missing something somewhere? Or will I need to get myself to the relevant archives, wherever they are?

All I can see on FindMyPast is transcriptions. And there's a marriage listed on Freereg that doesn't appear on FindMyPast in any shape or form.

Thanks- but that's just Bilston - is there similar online for Cosely/Sedgley?

Not obviously. But the list of Staffordshire parishes they have is very long it’s hard to believe they are missing. Perhaps they fall under another parish?
Tipton & Wolverhampton are there.

Both Coseley and  Sedgeley parish registers etc appear to be  held at Dudley Archives.

familysearch.org has the films, but as mckha says, only viewable at an LDS library or affiliite library.
I see my local library is now classed as an affiliate library, and you can view these locked films there.
Perhaps you can see if your library does a similar thing, if you are not anywhere near an LDS family history library.
