Title: TW Booker Iron and Coal Master
Post by: Gwaelodian on Sunday 30 June 24 13:18 BST (UK)
Good morning. Researchers  on this page have helped me (for my history group) several times. We are still trying to research more fully the Booker family. We have some notes on the history of TW Booker Blakemore and TW Booker of Velindre. The latter was bankrupt around the time of the death of his first born son in 1875. Archive press covers the bankruptcy and court hearings extensively.

What we are trying to do is find out more of this family, trying to understand why these important coal barons have so little written about them. We know the eight daughters and the wife of TWBooker of Velindre were involved at Tuskar House helping wounded soldiers recoup. We know one daughter was buried with full military honours having served at the front, but have no idea what happened to the family after this period. Are there living relatives? Are there any photos of anyone from this important family? Even the portrait of TWBooker Blakemore, which hung in the City Hall, has disappeared. Please help if you can! History will be grateful. Thank you so much.

DEATH OF MR. BOOKER BLAKEMORE,
DEATH OF MR. BOOKER BLAKEMORE, M.P. FOR THE COUNTY OF HEREFORD. INFORMATION of the above truly melancholy event reached Cardiff on Tuesday morning; and created a sensation of astonishment, throughout the town, akin to awe and fear. Mr. BOOKBR BLAKBMORB dead! People could not believe it. The dreadful truth could not be grappled with. The mind was so shocked as to be unable to realise the magnitude
