Looking for clarity on his whereabouts in 1911
George Hunsley
1911–1983
BIRTH 22 APR 1911 • Sheffield, Yorkshire West Riding
DEATH OCT 1983 • Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England
I think i have the correct birth date/place as only one George born around that time.
So that would make him a month or so old.
Census says 4/12.
Birth Place
Wombwell, Yorkshire, England
But I believe he was born Sheffield according to BMD
I know that his wife was Florence E Smith married July 1934.
Thanks

If they're the couple in Derbyshire in 1939 -- his DOB is 27 May 1910.
The other fellow (from Wombwell) is married to another woman in the 1939 Regsiter.

Which is different to what's written on the census form. 23 or 27/4/1911
Will it have possibly been transcribed incorrectly?

I was told that he was born 1908 Sheffield and died aged 76, so that would make death 1984.
I can find no birth for that date so assume they remembered it incorrectly.
But there is a Barnsley one Dec 1910.
I need to check with them that he's not the one I want instead of Sheffield!

They need to confirm the details they do know for 100% certain, then go from there.

Thank you for this.
The bride was given away by her grandfather Mr Charles Downs.
So without appearing thick, her mother's maiden name was Downs.
How does Mrs J Moss fit into this?
Is she a 2nd wife?
-
Mrs J Moss is mother of George, possibly Elizabeth Hunsley married 1918 Chesterfield to John Henry Moss. They are together in 1921 with a Moss/ Hallam child.
I think this is her in 1911 with William but no marriage found, his wife died 1905.

In 1921 she is with her aunt and uncle, Fred MALLINDER and Mary Ellen (HALLAM).
George's mother remarried in 1918 to John Henry MOSS and a daughter was born in 1920.

In 1921 George is not with his mother in Eckington, Derbyshire, the only children are Eliza, and John's two children George Archer and John Henry.

George was born 23 APR 1911.
Newspaper says eldest son of William and Mrs J Moss!
Does that mean Eliza died shortly after the marriage?
My head hurts. ???

George HANSLEY is in Killamarsh in 1921 with Eliza HALLAM born 1850, Sheffield, presumedly his grandmother.

It says son of the late William Hunsley, William died 1913 and Eliza / Elizabeth remarried in 1918 to John Henry Moss.

The 1911 census was taken on 2 April so your George wasn't yet born.
If they're the couple in Derbyshire in 1939 -- his DOB is 27 May 1910.
His date of birth is actually given as 22 or 23 April 1911, hard to tell because the day has been written over. Above that has been added later 27-5-10 KIA 29-9-1949 so someone has incorrectly identified him as the other George who was living in Lincolnshire. KIA is the district number for Sheffield so one of them had some event in 1949 but who knows which one.

I am the eldest son of Brian Boden.
Also the grandson of George Hunsley.
You have made enquiries about both.
