Title: Caroline ????? 1862
Post by: Sturdy on Saturday 08 June 24 07:05 BST (UK)
Good evening all,

I am sorting through a group of old photos and struck two that I can not make out fully. First is from 1862 and I think read "Caroline ?????" and the second possibly "Lorraine?  6 years"

Any assistance in deciphering the hand writing would be greatly appreciated.

Sturdy

The surname may be SURTEES?

I may be wrong but the second one looks like Louisa to me.

Thank you all - following up your SURTEES lead I actually found a duplicate photo on Ancestry under the name of Caroline Isabel SURTESS (1848-1946). Mystery solved. Thank you. Now for Louisa

I thought that middle initial might be an I rather than a P.
