These are my girlfriend's ancestors - Jack was a retired soldier/coal hewer who lived on 42 Regent St in Balby, Doncaster and Ellen was an Irish housewife. According to family stories, Jack left Ellen for another woman at least after 1921 and apparently their son chased him down the street and jumped on him in anger but that's a whole other story. 1921 census is where I last find them two - the 1939 register has all of their children all married and living on their own means. Any help trying to track them both down would be vastly appreciated :)
Jack was born in Ripley, Derbyshire in 1878
Ellen was born c. 1881-82 in Ballintemple, Co. Cork

As Jack was born in S Quarter 1878, and I've found a sort of match living in Leeds (born 4th July 1878) who is married to an Annie in 1939
I'll try to look for the one from Hull if I can
