Title: James Dale and wife Mary Canada census 1861
Post by: seasider on Tuesday 28 May 24 15:47 BST (UK)
I wonder if anyone could find me James Dale born 1816 Cavan and his wife Mary both born Ireland. I have them with children on the 1851 census for Welland County. I know they lived in Thorold but I can't find them on the 1861 census. James died in 1866 and Mary remarried, I have her on 1871 census.Children on the census would possibly be Thomas, Joseph, David, James, John, Rebecca, Margaret, Sarah Jane and Mary Lewilla. Thanks

I have her on 1871 census.

In the same area or had she moved away?

How old were the children by 1861

I may have found Rebecca. What year was she born?

No, that didn't work out. I thought maybe I could track one of the youngest children between the 1851 census and the 1871 census because the youngest ones would have been with their parents. I can't find any record of them in 1851. Maybe they were out of the country then?

It’s messy but here they are. I found Rebecca indexed as Date in the Library and Archives website. Line 19 onwards…

This is James Dale and Mary Barret of Cootehill, Cavan, Ireland.  My gg grandmother came with them to Canada along with their two sons born in Ireland.  I sent you a reply to your request for information about the Dales who came to Wigan near Manchester.  I have been working with a descendent of Esther Dale in Manchester and we have put the family together.  Are you on Ancestry?
