Title: 1871 census - help with transcription
Post by: alison300 on Saturday 25 May 24 16:11 BST (UK)
Hoping someone can tell me what this word says.  It's a snip from the 1871 census for the Brown family.  The snip is taken from the last column (under Deaf & Dumb, Blind etc)

Yep, rupture, birth.  Sounds painful!

Thank you - what a strange thing to write though.  He's also 4yrs old on this census; can't find anything on subsequent census.  His brother entered an asylum so I was wondering if it could be a medical condition - very odd.  Thank you both very much,
