Title: Myfanwy Davies, born around 1889-1892, WWA
Post by: Deirdre784 on Saturday 25 May 24 13:03 BST (UK)
Hi, trying to help a friend, but struggling to find anything on Myfanwy Davies before her marriage to Bertie Augustus Hall in Fareham (register office), Southampton on 5 Nov 1918. Wondering if anyone can tell me what this says about her occupation. Father said to be David Davies, steelworker, but not much help to date.

Date of birth said to be 22 Dec 1892 on the 1939 register, agrees with 28y 8m (born Merthyr Tydfil) on the 1921 census, but date of 22 Dec 1889 from death in Hammersmith, as Myfanwy Hall.  Possible birth registered in Merthyr Tydfil, Oct-Dec 1892, mother Beynon, but not sure if the birth would have been registered that quickly. She's not an immediate ancestor, just a puzzle, but may have to get that birth certificate if nothing else found.

Thanks, Deirdre

Thanks David, i saw the WAA corps but couldn't make out the earlier bits, but 27th looks good. Wonder if that is a service number (not sure what else it could be) and if i can find anything from that.

don't think that's her sorry David; the 1921 census says born Merthyr Tydfil, and the date of birth is wrong.

Believing her birth to be 22 Dec sometime between 1888 and 1892 (and probably registered in the Jan-Mar quarter) i have bought 2 digital images (one is the wrong date and wrong father if the info i have is correct) but the other is a mystery.

Myfanwy Davies, born 29 Jan 1890, Georgetown, Merthyr Tydfil, no father named (was '-' on the GRO so i was expecting that), mother Sarah Davies, seamstress. But the informant entry says: The mark of Sarah Davies, present at death, dated 27 Feb 1890. Now i guess Myfanwy may have died and her mother registered the birth and death at the same time - though there's no matching death record - but a strange entry nonetheless.
