Title: Trying to find a marriage.

Hi
Can anyone help on finding a marriage for a Willie yates.
The only information I have is that he was born 1927 in sheffield. His mother's maiden name was fletcher. His father was Sidney yates.
There's a possible name for his spouse: Joyce Bernard? Could be spelt different, I'm not sure.

You will find this marriage in FreeBMD William Yates married Joyce B Barnard June qtr 1953, Sheffield Vol 2d Page 302.

There was also the talk of children but we cannot find anything, no names, no births. Nothing.

Did they leave Sheffield?

FreeBMD shows Yates/Barnard births 1953-1973:
2 in W.Ham
3 in Pontypool
2 in Sheppey

but these people may well be still alive so you will need to check FreeBMD yourself.

There is a tree online that shows William's mother as Caroline Fletcher.
The tree also shows two children 1 male and 1 female, but as they are likely to still be alive their names are not given. However there is a Susan Joyce Cowell b.6th January 1955 who was adopted into the family, and who has recently died 18th April 2024.
