Title: Looking for a Homerton Hackney Company circa 1930 ish
Post by: Mr B on Tuesday 07 May 24 16:12 BST (UK)
My late aunty worked for a Company in Homerton circa mid to late 1930s that had "Wrights" in the name. She said it was opposite Hackney Hospital in Homerton so perhaps Homerton High Street..  Not sure if that's the full company name but they made cartons, Boxes for Yardley. They could have also been Printers maybe a shop or a factory.

Hackney Hospital was also on the corner of Kenworthy Rd and so the old business may have been situated it that road.

Glyn Rd is also opp the hospital.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful

Digby Works is a former cardboard box factory in Homerton, Hackney. It was opened in the 1920s and later converted into flats in the 1990s.

It was located at 130 Homerton High Street

Newspaper items from the 1920s refer to a company Matthews, Smith and Co., box manufacturers, operating at Digby Works, Homerton High Street.

1921 census has entries for people who worked at 32 High Street, Stratford for Yardley and Co, Perfumers, Soap and Box Manufacturers
